Vishwa Mohan Bhatt

Vishwa Mohan Bhatt was born in Rajasthan.His father hailed from the Jaipur Gharana, while his mother was trained in the Seniya Gharana. He recieved his initial training fro his father but his career took a new turn when he recieved training from Pandit Ravi Shankar.

The most important contribution of Vishwa Mohan Bhatt can be said to be the invention og the Mohan Veena which blends the musical attributes of the traditional veena and Western Acoustic guitar.

He has travelled all over the world giving sterling performances on the Mohan Veena. His album "A Meeting by The River" has won a Grammy award. This album is a fusion of Indian and Western music, it being a jugalbandi with Ry Koodfer. It is a great honour to have won this award, and the only other Indian to have won this award is guru Pandit Ravi Shankar.

Thus Vishwa Mohan Bhatt is one of the rare artists who have been fortunate to play an instrument created by himself and earned international fame for his skills on that instrument.
