Born in 1961, Prasun started lesrning the art of playing tabla at his tender age from his father Sri Amalesh Chatterjee, a renowned tabla-pakhawaj player. Honours graduate in Economics from University of Calcutta, Prasun had the good future to take advanced lessons from Ustad Alla Rakha; thus, he plays a beautiful combination of these traditional schools with perfection. He is at present working as a staff artist in All India Radio, New Delhi. He has accompanied famous musicians like Late Pt. Basavraj Rajguru, Ustad Shahid Prvez, Pt. Rajan Mishra & Sajan Mishra , Pt. Ajay Chakraborty , Pt. Rajshekhar Mansoor, Pt. L.k. Pandit, Ustad Bale Khan , Smt. Malini Rajurkar, Smt. Padma Talwalkar, Dr. Smt. Prabha Atre, Smt. Shanti Sharma, Smt.Sumitra Guha, etc. in many major festivals all over India.
