Born on October 4, 1807 in Paris off in family of French Minister.
He played Piano. He also spent considerable years of his life in Shanti Niketan.
After that he shifted to Varanasi and Veena from Pandit Shivendranath Basu.
In 1841 he changed his religion from Christainity to Hinduism and named himself as Shiv Saran.
