Chintaman Raghunath Vyas was born to a family of Harikirtankars on 9th November 1924 in Thair village of Usmanabad in Maharashtra.

He recieved his musical training from four great vocalists. They were Govindrao Bhatambrekar of Kirana Gharana, Rajarambua Paradkar and Mirashibua of Gwalior Gharana and Jagannath Purohit (Gunidass) from the Agra Gharana. Soon music became the first commitment of his life.

He started the Gunidass Sangeet Sammelan in 1977 in order to pay tribute to his Guru, "Gunidass". The "Raag Mala" series of concerts was his conceptualization.

The credit for the Ragas Dhankoni Kalyan, Shiv Abhogi, Sagera and Shudh Ranjini goes to him and in the pen name of Gunijann he has also created over 250 compositions in different Ragas. His book "Raag Sariota" sums up his work in this field.

He has been honoured with many awards such as the Padnabhushan and Sangeet Akademi Award, Maharashtra Gaurav Puraskar and the Tansen Samman by Madhya Pradesh Government Award.

He blended the Kirana, Gwalior and Agra Gharana to create his own style. From 1950-54 he taught music ay Bhartiya Vidyabhavan.

C.R.Vyas performed both in india and abroad and on Radio and Television. For him music is the road to reach the almighty.
