Ustad Amir Khan

Amir Khan was born to a family of musicians in 1912 in Indore.His father played Veena and Sarangi in the Mogul courts durung this time.

Ustad Amir Khan became a renowned vocalist and what made his concerts special was a wide range of pitch and skilled display of tonal quality.

The Ragas Marwah, Darbari, Kanhara and Malkauns were the favourite of Ustad Amir Khan. Amir Khan"s vocal creations are till date enjoyed and appreciated. It is a pity that today this sterling performer is no more with us. He died on the 13th of February, 1974 in a car accident in the city of Calcutta.

Ustad Amir Khan promoted the " meerkhand " - based alaap in the Khayal style. In the later period of his life he dedicated himself to the study the naunces of tarana.

In short he was one of all times great.
