Ajay Pohankar born into a family of musicians started lesrning music from a very early age and at the age of ten gave his first performance at the Sawai Gandharva Music Festival.

His mother Dr.Sushila Pohankar who belonged to the Kirana Gharana trained Ajayji.

Panditji offers a wide range of concerts to cater the varied interests and tastes of the audience such as Indian Classical (Hindustani Vocal Classical), Deeper Zone (Fusion), Sankirtan (Devotional mantras), Bhajnanjali (bhajans by Ajayji and wife Anjaliji)

He has also to his credit many conferences, including Tansen Festival (Gwalior) , Sawai Gandharwa Festival (Pune), Tarapat Festival (Kolkata), MTDC Elephanta Festival (Mumbai), Ganga Festival (Banaras), Spirit of Unity Concerts (Banglore and Chennai), Consulate General of India (Dubai) and Festival of India (Scotland and London).

Panditji has been forunate to have share the stage with great musicians and also lent his voice to the popular TV serial "The Great Maratha".

To sum up Panditji is considered to be one of the most beautiful gems of the glittering crown of Indian Classical Music.
