It was since 1956 that Dr.A.V.Shenoy was learning Hindustani Classical Vocal music . His tutor was Pt.Laxman Prasad Jaipurwale.
Dr.Shenoy contributed in varied ways in the field of music. The book "Sangeet Gyan Prakash" which consists of rare compositions of his tutor was coedited by him.This book alos consists methods of imparting music lessons. He gave a number of solo vocal performances at various prestigious venues. He used to represent his guru at these concerts. he performed both in and around Mumbai. Some of the places where he performed are Karnataka Sangha Hall, Gandharva Mahavidyalaya Hall New Mumbai, Dadar Matunga Cultural Centre, Nehru Planetarium, Swar Vilas andheri, Iskon Hall and many others.
Dr.A.V.Shenoy"s great hardwork and determination gave him the place of the foremost disciple of Pt.Laxman Prasad Jaipurwale. The greatest quality of Dr.A.V.Shenoy was to assimilate his guru"s distinctive features and develop a style of his own.
