Smt. Manorama Ahuja hails from Punjab.
Blessed with the initial guidance and musical essence by Ustad Ghulam Ali Khan Sahib, she was earlier a most outstanding student of Shantiniketan from where she recieved her degree with " A " distinction.
She is a great classical singer whose vision is to carry classical music to the masses. She has a rich-cultivated, soft and vibrant voice that easily excells in all the three SAPTAKS. Her singing is chiselled by years of devoted "riyaz" and infused by her phenominol creativity, in and endless striving towards perfection. She specialises in Khayal, Thumri, Ghazals and Bhajans.
Besides vocal music she has mastered Sitar as well.
Manorma has enthralled the audiences with her performances at several leading concerts, not only in India, but also overseas.Her famous programmes include All India Sadarang Music Conference, Raagini, Alankar, and Bhowanipur Sangeet Sammilani at Calcutta; Harballabh Sangeet Sammelan at Jalandhar; Kal-Ke-Kalakar and Swami Haridas Sangeet Sammelan at Bombay, and Vishnu Digambar Jayanti Samaroh at Delhi.
She is singing regularly on All India Radio. She is at present running " SANGEET KALA NIKETAN", with the ideology of Shantiniketan, at Faridabad. Her students come from all walks of life, belonging to differnt age groups: school and college students; working boys and girls; housewives: all getting blessed by her musical essence.
Several students have even made their mark in various music competitions held in the region; some of them are also singing for radio. She is passing on a rich heritage to the new generation -which is her tribute to "Sabrang".
