VADYA DARSHAN, NEW DELHI, Symposium and Festival, 22-26 July 2002
The Sangeet Natak Akademi has undertaken a series of events entitled Vadya Darshan under which we have already held a major exhibition of musical instruments together with demonstrations of crafting of musical instruments by eminent craftspersons from all over the country. This series focuses on the various aspects of the diverse traditions of instrumental music in India.
The Akademi will now hold a Symposium and a festivalfrom 22-26 July 2002 at Triveni Chamber Theatre/Kamani Auditorium in Delhi which will bring together scholars and practitioners of various instrumental music traditions emphasizing the history, playing technique, repertoire and dynamic of those musical instruments which are not very commonly performed or heard on the concert platform.
