SaMaPa Sangeet Sammelan 2011

SaMaPa, the prestigious music academy of the Great Music Legend Pandit Bhajan Sopori, presents the 7th Annual festival – ‘SaMaPa Sangeet Sammelan 2011’, the top most music festival of Delhi and one of the most prestigious festivals of the country. SaMaPa Festival is an electric juxtaposition of the richness and pageantry of Indian music, arts, cultural heritage and the artists of the country.

SaMaPa has made special efforts to preserve the rich cultural heritage of our country and has come up as a cultural movement with the motto “Music to the masses, Jan Jan Tak Sangeet”. Under the aegis of its Chairman, the Great Music Legend Pandit Bhajan Sopori, SaMaPa is credited to have brought a Cultural Revolution and to have created a new generation of music connoisseurs for which it has been honoured with various awards. SaMaPa has presented various pioneering & path breaking festivals, programmes & productions in the last 6 years and is also acclaimed as the “Cultural Bridge” of the Jammu & Kashmir State with the rest of the country.

This year the festival features more than 50 performers, both the younger generation with exceptional excellence and Senior & legendary maestros of the country.

• Sarod : Vidushi Zarin Sharma

20th November - 6:30 pm (Sunday)
• Sitar - Violin Duet : Saeed Zafar Khan & Asghar Husain
• Tabla Duet : Puran Mahraj & Shubh Mahraj
• Vocal : Smt. Shubha Mudgal

The prestigious SaMaPa Vitasta Award will be presented to legendary Vocalist Begum Parveen Sultana and Sarod Legend Vidushi Zarin Sharma, SaMaPa Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohd. Abdullah Award will be presented to Sh. Ghulam Nabi Bulbul for Folk Music of J&K, and SaMaPa Acharya Abhinavgupt Samman will be presented to Musicologist and Critic Prof. C.L. Das for their lifetime achievement in the field of music and culture.

The festival also includes a special Painting Exhibition by the artists of Jammu & Kashmir.
